Client: McLoughlin
Building Services Objective:
To
source an insulation material that would reduce thermal bridging and achieve
low u-values, while also providing excellent airtightness. This was a unique
new build in Portlaoise with many construction challenges that included
curved walls that would prove difficult to insulate with traditional
insulation Solution:
While
searching the web for an insulation material that would not only insulate
but provide airtightness Larry McLoughlin of McLoughlin Building Services
came across BioBased Insulation. After a consultation with Barry McCarthy
of BioBased Insulation, Larry quickly recognized BioBased was the product
for the job. BioBased Insulation was sprayed into the walls and the roof at
different thicknesses.
In both
methods the rafter and studs were counterbattened and the contractor
FoamWorks sprayed flush with the face of the couterbatten to reduce thermal
bridging and achieve a low u-value. The curved walls were perfectly
insulated with the BioBased spray foam which expands to fill any difficult
shape.
Testimonial: :”BioBased
Insulation successfully tackled the thermal bridging on this project. I will
be recommending this product to my clients in the future as a product that
undoubtingly achieves airtightness.” Larry McLoughlin of
