is 8kgm3 soy oil-based spray foam polyurethane semi-open
cell
insulation. BioBased® 501s Insulation
won two prestigious international awards in its inaugural
year - 2003
Green
Product of the Year by the attendees

Ten Greenspec Product by the editors of Building Green
magazine.
When installed BioBased® 501 expands 100 times its original size to completely fill all voids in the walls and roof of the building. It will provide a sealed thermal and airtight building envelope, eliminating heat loss and creating a comfortable healthier indoor environment. Less energy will be employed with BioBased insulation to heat or cool the building saving up to 50% on monthly costs and keeps conditioned air inside and unconditioned air out.
Unlike conventional insulation BioBased® 501s will not sag or settle and does not shrink or decline. It is the perfect insulation to protect against hot summers, freezing winters and rising fuel costs.
BioBased® 501s is an air barrier but not a vapour barrier and will manage moisture migration through the wall structure.
BioBased® 501s Insulation is primarily used to insulate timber frame walls and any timber roof with the appropriate covering in residential and commercial building application.
BioBased® 501s provides excellent thermal performance and is effective in reducing the u-value of the roof or walls of the building. For the purpose of u-value calculations the thermal conductivity of the product may be taken as 0.036W/mK
BioBased®
501s provides a continuous thermal and air barrier
and can be considered as a well sealed system in accordance
with BS 5250:2002.
BioBased®
has always recommended that you consider your building
as a system and when using BioBased
insulation we recommend that fresh
air is designed into your building by means of Passive
or Mechanical heat recovery systems.
